Bug Spray & A Quick Request Edit

There is a rumor that the Coil Snake has an extremely rare form which is called the Garden Snake and gives the player a Gutsy Bat and 9999999 EXP and almost instantly levels up to 98 or 99. There is only a 1/764058 chance this enemy will appear. That they say in the rumor.Edit
that I think is ridiculous and incorrect, but I'm reluctant to remove this without someone who actually knows what they're doing looking at it first, lol.

I hate to bother you yet again, but my formatting for the Thirsty Coil Snake keeps messing up and I don't know why. It's fine until the last two sentences, but then any changes I make do nothing to the inexplicable bolding and italicizing I keep getting. I know it has to do with the way I'm using quotation marks, but I don't know how to use them so it doesn't just give the same problems over and over. Uh, no. The ones I uploaded are the actual size of EarthBound sprites. Bigger sprites are just pixelly and look messy, and are not accurate representations of the enemies. -Stars talk 00:17, March 30, 2011 (UTC)

i am tired, i am cold, i am ill. i put hours and hours of work into this wiki all last week while i had hours of shows and this week while i've been seriously ill. i've fixed your mistakes when you made the tiger page. surely you must have seen the bloody edits i make. all im asking is that the articles are written correctly, formatted correctly, with the quote templatr and right links. its all there in the manual of style i made from a forum into a page just for your convinience. hell, from my edit summaries you must have some idea of what is not right. i have enough work fixing pages, editing images and renaming images as it is. i dont need to clean up after people because they cannot read simple instructions. i apologize for being harsh but i do not have the patience right now. -Stars talk 19:22, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

You may not have noticed that I mentioned a Mother 1+2 Fan Translation Edit

I am well aware of Tomato's translation. I'm following it's progress on EBcentral. The only fan translation we are currently covering here at EB wiki is his Mother 3 one. It's well known that Mother 1 + 2 retained the dialogue, location and sprite changes of the localized Earth Bound (EB0). Tomato himself is deciding whether to keep it as the NES Mother did things, or as M1+2 Mother is doing things. It's an ongoing debate at EB central. So your edit saying he was bringing things back to how the NES Mother's dialogue went is currently untrue. Oh, and a few other things I just noticed - Give me proof the dialogue "didn't match up to the story or plot" because I'm sure it did, the unreleased localization was official by Nintendo. Delete or merge? Edit

It depends, I'm not too intimate with Mother 3. If it has plot significance, then it deserves its own article, but as it currently stands it seems better to merge since the portrait article is beyond lacking. Stars talk 13:24, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

Stubs vs. Seriously Stubby Stubs Edit

Stubs are generally articles than contain information and just need more of it, or certain things like infobox details/picture. Basically, articles that can have more information. George and Geraldo Montague's sprites Edit
I noticed that George and Gerardo Montague's sprites were mixed up (I cited 4:27 of this video of the ending as proof), but the wiki kept giving strange results. I would upload the correct version and it would show that I uploaded the wrong one until I tried again (after many refreshed pages and ~5 min.), and suddenly the old one was correct and the new one was now wrong. It's the cache, I believe, it should sort itself out but you may need to edit the image dimensions by a pixel or so [[file:randomsprite|221px]] instead of [[220px]] or just nothing to 'bypass' it and have the correct image show -Stars talk 23:03, May 22, 2011 (UTC)
I tried it, but it still didn't work. However, I made a video when I tried to revert the one I hadn't touched, and you can see how the sprites change to still give the wrong image. :( I conceded defeat and uploaded a different file of them entirely to fix them. Fan Speculation Edit
I think I speak for most people when I say that I'm getting rather tired of the fan speculation on some of the pages, like Loid is Dr. Andonuts, Ana is Ness's Mother, etc. What I'd like to propose is taking all the speculation off the wiki pages that have them and just putting it all on one page (I guess Fan Speculation would work as a title...). Only ones that offer some semblance of proof (something like “Kumatora is Ness and Ana's daughter through time travel” obviously wouldn't make it) would make it. This way, we get the fan theories off the fact-based pages, continue to keep the ideas that are at least somewhat plausible, and keep the people who add fan theories to the wiki (for whatever reason) satisfied. Before I blindly go deleting pictures, I just want to know what policy you recommend for deleting pictures made by permanently banned users. Case in point: Loanathecat (I banned her for creating RhiaiohsdhjdsiDSkladfsjkadshildsih and Princess Paula) has uploaded, if you don't count the one she used on her profile, 3.884MB worth of files on the wiki. Most of them are pictures of Princess Peach edited in Paint, while one is a sketch of an unknown person and another is a photo of a group of people, and I was hoping we could delete these and possibly other unused pics that permanently banned users created. I know you're away at the time I'm writing this, but I wanted your opinion on this issue when you get back. Lately, IDowney1988 has been adding Spoiler templates to some of the articles. Personally, I'm against this as someone here looking up the game has either 1) played it already and knows everything in the Spoilers section or 2) they haven't, but they're aware of the risk of spoilers when looking up major plot points of a game. EarthBound Wiki's Slogans Edit
I was wondering if we could change the main page's pagetitle and the regular pagetitle. The first I would recommend to be more accurate about what we have (and at the very least, capitalize the B in EarthBound), and the second because, well, as much as people who know the failed EarthBound marketing campaign would find it funny and get the reference, people who don't know the series well or at all might take the message at face value and not visit the wiki. I felt I should explain myself for the headings on the Dr. Andonuts page; I went for "Before and During EarthBound" and "Post-EarthBound" because I included some info on events that happened, well, before EarthBound and between the two games. I was considering trying to divide them up into pre EB, EB, post EB/pre M3, M3 sections, but it became too difficult, so I just went for "In EarthBound" and "In Mother 3" to keep things simple, and it's how I've seen it done on Zeldapedia. - Yeah, I don't think there's enough information about events between games to warrant them having their own sections. Are there any areas in particular that just seem wrong to you? I'm going to read through it again (I know already that there's two paragraphs I want to break up), but I'd greatly appreciate a second pair of eyes checking it for flaws. On a related note, do you have any ideas for trivia? I'm pretty sure adding the current point (about the unused line) to the main text wouldn't work well, but I can't think of another point that would justify a section with only one piece of info in it. Youtube Edit
What I've done was make EarthBound Wiki a Youtube channel (and with it, its own email account and Google profile ). My reasoning is, in a nutshell, that if we have our own channel with the videos we need on it, we won't have to worry about a 3rd party (like Nintendose, whose music we link to a lot) deactivating their account or deleting a video, leaving us scrambling to find a replacement video. As a side benefit, we may even get new editors that way. :) I'd be willing to help run it (or even just run it by myself, if you approve the idea but don't want to be part of it). Unused Sprites Edit
I'm considering adding a section "Unused Sprites" to the templates for characters and enemies (and categories "Characters with Unused Sprites" and "People with Unused Sprites"). It'll still allow us to add the unused sprites to pages, but without cluttering up where their in-game sprites that are actually seen in use go. If anything, I'd probably put it right below the "Sprites" section so all the images are more or less together. Do you have any thoughts on the matter? A Gift Edit
It looks like you haven't been active for a while but I figured this was the best way to get a message to you. I've been working on a little project for my 3DS where I'm taking the character models off of different Wii games and making 3D images to view on the 3DS. I figured you would enjoy the TP link images I have for this. Anyway, if you want these images, you can download them from this link. After extracting the folder you can place the 100TPZ03 folder in the DCIM folder on your 3DS's SD card. Enemy Descriptions Edit
I've been thinking about the way we've been listing the enemy descriptions here... for both Mother and Mother 3, we use the {{Q}} template to state their in-game text. Why, though, isn't this merged with the templates about the enemies themselves (such as Template:M3 enemy)? It just seems like such a waste when the two can be combined into one.
That also brings me into my next proposal: enemy descriptions for EarthBound. While there are no real descriptions of the enemies in-game, most, if not all, have an entire official description in the EarthBound Player's Guide that we've been neglecting all this time. Basically, what I'm saying is that every enemy should have its description merged into each page's respective enemy template. Do you think this would work? What are your thoughts on activating Layout Builder and Category Exhibition in the WikiFeatures section? I read through the available options, but only those 2 sounded good for this wiki. Layout Builder is by the far the best of the two, though, as it should make creating our missing pages (such as items or characters) easier. Do you think this would this work? Fanfiction Edit
I made a template (Template:Fanfiction) to put on a user's talk page when they're being blocked for adding non-canon info to the wiki, and I just wanted your go-ahead before actually using it. Basically, you just block them and add {{Fanfiction|~~~~}} to their talk page instead of writing a whole message about why they're blocked. I was looking through the edits to the Giygas page, and I have to ask: what's wrong with having references? I've always thought that actually having sources to back up what has been added to a page (especially when you wouldn't think it's true when first reading it, like the bizarre inspiration for Giygas) is something all wikis should aim for to seem more trustworthy. On my old/home wiki, Zeldapedia, we never ever used references. I don't know why but we never did. In my opinion they just make a page look messy. - I think information involving real-life events or simply significant data should be cited. For example, if someone just added that there's unused cutscenes that were probably meant for the final battle but scrapped, anyone reading it would be pretty skeptical. However, if the claim was backed up up with a link such as this, the addition would seem exponentially more legitimate. And the funny thing is, my most significant edit to Zeldapedia heavily involved adding some information & a reference for it to Gaepora's article, and, save for some edits to my wording, has remained unchanged. I'm not sure if you're an admin or not (I assume so, seeing as I got what appeared to be an automatic message), but someone attempted to edit my theory moments ago. It was no big deal, as I have it saved as a .txt document on my PC, but I have no doubt that they will attempt this again.
