Changes: PSI Rockin

PSI Rockin (PK Kiai) is a PSI ability in EarthBound. It works on all enemies and has the possibility of decreasing one of the targets' Psychic Shield strength by 1. PSI Rockin is realized in EarthBound by Ness, and is also used by Giygas in the game's final battle. Ness's Nightmare is also capable of using the attack. At its Ω level, its power is rivaled only by (to an extent) PSI Freeze Ω.

Like the four main characters, King, and Ness' favorite food, PSI Rockin can be given a unique name by the player when asked what the player's favorite thing is before the story begins.

Unlike PK Love, it has no out-of-battle effect. But it, when used, displays a lot of technicolor lights and loud sounds (in the Virtual Console release, the visual effects are significantly blurred so as to lower the risk of epiletic seizures). The power depends on the level of PSI Rockin selected.

Trivia

Using the Don't Care naming option, possible names for PSI Rockin (or, "your favorite thing") are "Rockin", "Hammer", "Love", "Gifts", "Slime", "Gaming", and "Boxing".
Before Pokey turns off the Devil's Machine, Giygas can use this move.
One of the default names for PSI Rockin is Love, which is the name of the special attack that only Lucas can use in Mother 3.
PSI Rockin's Japanese name is PK Kiai. The most possible reason why it was changed to Rockin, is because kiai, or "unification of will" is basically when you scream at someone while fighting with them; or your battle cry. Of course, with kiai being a Japanese term and the majority of Americans not knowing what kiai is in the first place, they had to go with something else. They translated it as Rockin' because rock singers often scream during the song.
