This article is about the soundtrack. For the game with the same Japanese name, see EarthBound.

Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back (Japanese: MOTHER 2 ~ギーグの逆襲~ Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back) is the official soundtrack of EarthBound, composed by Hiroshi Kanazu, Keiichi Suzuki, and Hirokazu Tanaka, and released on November 2, 1994 by Sony Records. It consists of twenty-four tracks, three of which are remixes.

Songs from the album also appear in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl in their original or remixed form.

Background information

Development of the music for EarthBound remained much easier than its predecessor. In an interview with Weekly Famitsu, Keiichi Suzuki commented on how the Super Nintendo Entertainment System gave the composers much more freedom to compose what they wanted. Suzuki also cited John Lennon as an influential figure to all the composers while the soundtrack was being developed.
