Titanic Ant (きょだいアリ) is the guardian of the first Your Sanctuary location in EarthBound, Giant Step. It resembles a large Black Antoid, and was probably altered by the power of Giant Step. The Gigantic Ant, a palette swap of the Titanic Ant, appears much later in the game.
Battle[]
The Titanic Ant can use both PSI moves and physical moves. It is also accompained by two Black Antoids in the start of the battle.
Attacks[]
- Tries Magnet α - The Titanic Ant uses Magnet α, stealing some PP.
- Tries Shield α - The Titanic Ant uses Shield α, protecting itself from attacks.
- Tries Defense Down α - (6 PP) The Titanic Ant uses Defense Down α, lowering a bit the target's Defense.
- Used a biting attack - The Titanic Ant bites a party member, dealing low or high damage.
Strategy[]
- The Black Antoids act as support enemies in this battle, constantly using Lifeup α on the Titanic Ant, making it easier to defeat it taking by them down first.
- The Titanic Ant can get a SMAAAASH!! with its more powerful attack, giving Ness mortal damage in one hit. Then, to avoid losing the fight, it's important to act fast and heal while the HP is still scrolling.
Trivia[]
- The Titanic Ant, unlike the Gigantic Ant, has no vulnerability to Fire or Freeze. This is most likely because it is impossible to have Paula at this point.
- It does, however, carry over its 50% resistance on Flash, Paralysis, and Hypnosis, along with a 90% immunity to Brainshock. Not that Ness will have these moves while fighting it.
- The Titanic Ant has two physical moves of different power that have the same text.
