Defense down (also written as "DefenseDown") is a PSI ability in all three titles of the Mother series. It works on a single enemy (or all enemies, depending on the power level) and lowers the Defense of the affected target(s). DefenseDown is learned in EarthBound Beginnings by Ninten, in EarthBound by Paula, and in Mother 3 by Kumatora. The first use decreases the target's Defense by a fifth of the original stat, the second and third uses by a tenth of the original stat, and fourth and subsequent uses fail (three is therefore the maximum).
